PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT - 08/16

There will be 2 sessions to accommodate families with siblings in different grade levels.

Session 1: 6:00-6:40

Session 2: 6:45-7:30

Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade will meet in their grade level hallways. 5th grade will meet in the cafeteria.

Yesterday, the PTA held a Beverly Bobcat Parent breakfast to kick off the new school year.  It was an excellent turn out of parents and school administrators to connect and get to know each other.

A special thank you to our donors and sponsors of the event, Starbucks, Salt and Light Laundry Service, Cyndi Walker and the Walker family as well as Ketevan Kavtaradze and the Kavtaradze family!

Part of the PTA’s mission statement is to “make every child’s potential a reality”, and fulfilling teacher wish list items is one of our favorite ways to support this mission.

Thanks to the membership dues, fundraising and donations that all of YOU have contributed, we’ve been able to spend this week purchasing and delivering items hand-selected by Beverly teachers to enhance their students’ educational experiences this year.

This is just a small, tangible sample of what your generosity allows us to do for our community.

• 42 playground balls color coded for each grade level

• Magnetic blocks and Legos for Kindergarten Centers

• Books for 4th grade class reading assignments

• Individual dry erase boards for all 1st graders

• supplemental reading curriculum for 2nd grade

• Supplemental science textbooks for 3rd grade

• Reading comprehension activities for our resource teachers

• online supplement curriculum subscriptions for our 5th graders

• new sound system and wireless microphones for music and other school programs

Join the Beverly PTA today to be a part of this amazing network of supportive parents and teachers!

VOLUNTEER

Our Volunteer of the Month for the month of August, is Jennifer Gurley Allison

She’s a mom of 2 Beverly Bobcats, wife, works outside the home and is the Beverly PTA’s VP of Communication AND manages all of our school supply order, fulfillment and delivery. This is Jennifer’s second year in these positions, and we could not be more grateful for her hard work. She manages the PTA website and print communication and oversees all digital communication and the yearbook. She’s usually the one behind the scenes here on Facebook, but we snuck in to sing her praises because she’d never do it herself. Jennifer stays out of the spotlight, but she is always the first to volunteer to assist everyone on the PTA Board.

Thank you Jennifer for everything you do!

The PISD volunteer submission expires every year in July. Now is the time to submit your background check again! This MUST be completed for you to go Beverly to volunteer (e.g: lunch duty, class party, field trip, field day etc). Visit www.pisd.edu/volunteer to begin the process, which includes a background check. It only takes a few minutes! After submitting the form, the background check takes a few days to be approved, so it is best to get this done NOW so you don't have to worry about it. Once your application is complete, you will be able to sign up for volunteer opportunities at Beverly and our PTA.

VOLUNTEER
2022-23 Open Positions

Get involved on campus by volunteering for the PTA! Beverly PTA has open positions for next year and we are looking for parents who want to join in and help our school continue to be a great place. Becoming a volunteer is one of the most rewarding ways to show support for the children and staff. Below are some positions that we are looking to fill ASAP. Please contact Allison McFarland at abmcfarland@gmail.com if you would consider doing it or have any questions.

Arts in Education Chair:  This position is responsible for promoting and executing the Reflections program at Beverly and recognizing eligible, participating students. Reflections is a National PTA program that recognizes student artists. This work will occur primarily in the fall semester.

Council Delegate: This individual would attend the meetings of the Plano Council of PTAs and act as a representative of the Beverly PTA at the district level. They would then report back to the Beverly PTA with a brief summary of district meetings.

Environmental Chair: This individual would plan Walk to School Days once in the fall and once in the spring. This position could also be expanded to include having an Eco Club at Beverly again or organizing litter clean up and projects in the school garden.

Financial Reconciliation Committee

***only 1 more volunteer needed***

Want to volunteer but don’t have time or energy for an ongoing commitment, especially during the busy school year? We have the perfect opportunity for you! In July, we have four PTA volunteers meet to review our finances for a financial reconciliation.

What’s awesome about it:

  • Don’t have to battle busy school schedules
  • Time and day (as long as it’s in July) can be selected by the committee members
  • FREE meal provided by the PTA while you volunteer In most cases can be finished in about 4 hours, in one sitting
  • Don’t have to be an accountant! Anyone can do it.
  • You’re helping the PTA, because we are required to do this every year!

What a great way to make friends with other parents! Please email treasurer@beverlypta.com or president@beverlypta.com to volunteer or with any questions. Thanks for your support!
